Two tone stages
Two independent tone stages bracket the distortion: Tone Pre sculpts what hits the curve, Tone Post sculpts what it spits out. Order matters - a lowpass before the distortion gives you smoother drive; the same lowpass after the distortion tames fizz.
Filter types
The TYPE menu, grouped:
- Ladder filters - Lowpass 12 dB, Lowpass 24 dB, Highpass 12 dB, Highpass 24 dB. Moog-style and resonant.
- Shelf and EQ shapes - Low Shelf, High Shelf, Smile, Bell.
- Impulse Response - ships with guitar and bass cabinet emulations, and lets you load your own.
Per-type controls
The options row changes with the filter type:
- Ladders: Cutoff and Resonance, plus FAT (lowpass thickener) and CHOKE (the drive point of the ladder’s internal saturation).
- Shelves and Bell: GAIN; Bell adds Q.
- Smile: LS RATIO.
Impulse responses
In Impulse Response mode, load cab or space IRs via the pillbox - prev/next arrows, click to
browse, or drag and drop a .wav - and blend with MIX. For guitarists this is the payoff:
curve + IR = amp-in-a-box.
Your IRs travel inside presets, so patches stay portable across machines.
The frequency-response overlay
Hover over or open a tone chip and the filter’s response curve draws right on the phosphor display, moving as you tweak.
